Internal Revolution

The Internal Revolution

"It is one thing to be free and another thing to have freedom".

Is the one who always wanders in the same situations, seeking to indulge his desires over and over again free? Is the one who has fears and insecurities free? What about the vicious one? What about the individual who is unable to master a fit of anger? Is he a free being?

All of them, all of us, possess the faculty of the freedom. On a daily basis, we are not deprived of choosing what we want. So we have free will. But is this synonymous with being free individuals?

Our chains are internal. There is nothing external that can bind us, if within us it does not have its analogy, its correspondence. Nothing happens in the face of an insulter if, within us, there is no response to his attack.

All our decisions, all our creations, all our actions... begin within. There, in that world that is as vast as it is enigmatic for us. That personal universe of which we know practically nothing. And yet how important it is. If all external manifestations come from it, what is the world we see if not a result of the one we do not see? The one we feel, the one that takes us from one place to another, from one circumstance to another, without knowing how or why... only by obeying.

Are we masters of our own lives, are we masters, with will and purpose, of the direction our existence takes, or have the winds from outside turned us into fickle creatures who react to every stimulus without real control?

A simple question can answer this question: Are we capable of stopping the think at any time we want?

The answer is no. We have no dominion over ourselves. We are not the lords and masters of this inhabited house. We have it, nothing more, along with the freedom to decide what is best or worst for it. But, influenced by unknown forces, our judgement is conditioned, we are neither free nor objective in our decisions.

For that, to become one, revolution is needed.

Revolution is rebellion, uprising against an established order, against a form that has been imposed on something or someone.

Why look outside for those conflicts and forms to rebel against, if the origin of them all lies in that inner world of which we know nothing? That world in which we are blind men with good intentions, wandering aimlessly. That world that needs a revolution that will provide it with liberation from all those bonds that our customs, our own established order, have generated in our existence over time and circumstances.

All the systems that bind us to our insecurities, unbridled cravings, vagueness, shortcomings and sufferings do not come from the outside, but from our own inner world. What we see outside is only the manifestation of what exists within. Who makes up this broken world if not us? Who makes the world a better or a worse place by their existence?

Only we can free ourselves from our own chains. No one can do it by oneself. But in order to do so, it is first necessary to know that we are chained... and that we are the ones who hold the key that unlocks every lock.

If the individual is free internally, then no prison can take his freedom.
