Honesty and Humility<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The preparation of the magician is perhaps the most important part of the journey. And it has several aspects. Primarily, one who longs to become a true magician must first work on the elimination of all negative aspects of himself in order to remove them so that virtues may blossom within him. The honesty and humility of the magician are precious jewels that shine in those who have eliminated greed, pride, vanity and many other defects that cloud the sight and senses of any individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

True Magic<\/a> is exercised for the good of oneself, for one's own spiritual progress, and for the good of one's neighbour. Here is an anecdote told to us by Samael Aun Weor, a sage of our times, regarding honesty and humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John the Theurgist<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\"We knew a man by the name of John; he was an excellent Theurgist! He knew how to go out consciously in the astral body. Suddenly, a marvellous bird, a white dove, of ineffable whiteness, with the head of a venerable old man and a long, white, albate beard, floated deliciously over the head of the Theurgist... Suddenly, a marvellous bird, a white dove, of ineffable whiteness, with the head of a venerable old man and a long, white, albate beard, floated delightfully over the head of the Theurgist.<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a sight to behold and admired, that spotless dove, so large and so beautiful, with the head of a venerable old man! The white dove landed on the shoulders of one of John's friends, and whispered wise counsel in his ear. Then the dove of ineffable whiteness, with the head of a venerable old man, stood in front of John. <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filled with ecstasy, our good disciple questioned the Holy Spirit:<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-My Lord, oh my God, tell me: how am I doing? will I be all right? <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dove dawning, assuming a sublimely human figure, spoke full of love: <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

- My son, you are going wrong! <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juan asked again in surprise:<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Lord, tell me, why am I going wrong?<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the Holy Spirit declared:<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

- I am curing one of your sick, the sick who is in your care; it is not you who cures her, it is I who does it, however...You have taken money!...Those pennies you received you must give them back! They have been given to you with much sacrifice!<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John, dismayed, replied:<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 -Sir, if I pay back those pennies, then I'm doing well? <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The venerable old man said: <\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Yes, then you are doing well, very well!<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John embraced the venerable old man, filled with immense love. And the old man blessed<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John.\"<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n
